Founded in 1963, Esdi — Escola Superior de Desenho Industrial — is considered to be the first design university in Latin America. The school recently went trhough a revision in its 50 year curriculum and recently elected Zoy thought it neeeded a refreshment as well as a new website. Univesrity's director Zoy Anastassakis invited me and my partner Nickolas Borba to redesign the school's logo and visual identity.
The univ's old logo was set in solid Univers Bold Condensed, and the idea was to litereallty shake things up, while respecting the powerful neutrlity of frtugier crwation hence the low contrast, all caps
the rationality was maintained in the individual letter design while the setting is rather unconventional and quasi-quirky. The movement in the logo shifting reflects the diversity of the students and the impossibility of reducing the student body to one weight and one size
